Hugh Jackman. Muscles. Scruffy. Leather necklace. Water. Pretty, pretty eyes. Water on muscles. <3 <3

Mm......

I knew I'd love Australia, since it's a Baz Luhrmann film (Strictly Ballroom is one of my favorite movies, his Romeo + Juliet was awesome, and I even have a soft-spot for Moulin Rouge!), but....

Nghhh..... I think I melted into my theater seat last night.

Except that Luhrmann doesn't have a career in song lyrics, I think. How did he talk Elton John into singing such an insipid song?

But... also... David Wenham. <3

Bad title, excellent movie. Truly excellent movie. I was worried it would be too much; even though the previews had looked so promising, they also looked like it might be too preachy. Not so -- it was very well balanced. Great cast (well, you already know I have a huge crush on Denzel), amazing script, wonderful story. I cried through the entire second half, and not because it was sad or anything like that. It was just so well done.... and I'm a hormonal mess these days anyway.

GUYS! GUYS!

If you haven't gone to see Enchanted, yet, or if you weren't planning to go see it.... GO.

Trust me on this one; I haven't laughed that loud and that long in a theater for years.

"American Gangster" = LOVE

Just... just, a really good movie. And, yes, I loved the soundtrack as much as I suspected I would from the preview. Russell Crowe and Denzel Washington were love. The cute little old lady who played Frank Lucas's mother was love. The entire story was love.

Not, I suspect, for those who don't deal well with violence and needles. Nggh. No, I don't like needles. But I still loved this movie. I'm going to buy the soundtrack.

On a completely different note, comics from the 20s are also love. I wonder if there's a collection of Ethel Hays flapper girl comics?

There's nothing like the threat promise of storm clouds to make me not want to go in to school this afternoon. Rain, rain, I love rain!

So I'll blather on about what I've been up to this weekend.

Went and saw 3:10 to Yuma on Saturday. I wanted to go to an early showing, which we've done every once and a while, but the earliest showing this weekend was 12:30. Probably because it wasn't opening weekend. So, how was it? Well, I don't watch much TV these days, so I only hear about movies by word-of-mouth. And everyone has been raving about this movie. .... For good reason!

It was.... wonderful. I'd been in the mood for a Western lately (re-watched Butch Cassidy the other weekend), and this was a great one. Good story, good characters, great actors. I may have leaked about the eyes a bit. God, I sob over everything these days. ;) Mmm, and Bale and Crowe weren't hard on the eyes. Not "pretty" men, but ten times better for it. And Bale was scruffy. <3

There was at least three previews for upcoming movies based on gangsters. The brother one didn't interest me much, but the one with Denzel Washington (and I discovered I am very fond of gangster Denzel. Haven't quite pinned down the attraction yet, but...) and Crowe looks good, and the music in the trailer is good. And although the one with Viggo looks like it'll probably be too much.... I really want to see him playing Russian mafia.

In case I've never mentioned it before. I love trailers. I just keep forgetting I can watch them online these days.... ah well, they're better in the theaters anyway. ;)

The other thing I did this weekend was finish season two of Battlestar Galactica with Gabe. We've been kind of crawling our way through this show over the past year -- Not because we don't like it, but because it's not the kind of show you can really marathon. It messes with you too well. Oh, but what an amazing show.
